Meter Readings & Energy Use: Privacy Policy

The short version

Your meters, readings, photos, tariffs and bills stay on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, no server of ours, no advertising and no analytics. The one thing that leaves the phone is the diagnostic information Google Play Billing sends to Google when the app checks or makes a purchase.

What the app stores, and where

• Meters, properties, readings, meter-exchange and delivery records, tariffs, bills and notes you type are stored in a database on your device.
• Photos of your meter that you take or choose are copied into the app's private storage on your device.
• Settings such as your currency and the monthly reminder day are stored on your device.

None of this is sent to VELTIS LABS LLC or to anyone else. We cannot see it, and we cannot recover it for you.

What leaves the device

Google Play Billing. To show the price of Pro, to let you buy it, and to check on each start whether your Google account owns it, the app uses the Google Play Billing library. That library connects to Google Play and sends Google diagnostic information about the billing connection. For Google Play's Data safety form this is declared as: App info and performance > Diagnostics: collected, not shared, required. It is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). VELTIS LABS LLC receives only what Google Play Console reports to every developer about a sale (for example that a purchase happened and in which country); we never receive your readings.

Things you choose to send. When you export your data, share a readings PDF or CSV, or back up to a file, the file goes where you send it (for example email or a cloud drive). That is your action, through Android's own share and file screens; the app sends nothing by itself.

Android backup. If you have turned on Google's device backup, Android may include the app's database, photos and settings in your own backup, encrypted and tied to your Google account, as it does for other apps. You can turn this off in your phone's settings.

What the app does not do

• No account, sign-in, email address or phone number is asked for.
• No advertising, advertising ID, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDK is included.
• No location, contacts, camera permission, microphone or storage permission. Meter photos come from the system camera app or the Android photo picker, which hand over only the picture you choose.
• No connection to energy suppliers, smart meters or any online service.

Permissions

• Notifications (Android 13 and later), asked for only when you turn on the monthly reminder. If you refuse, the reminder stays off and the app explains how to allow it later.
• Billing, internet and network state, added by the Google Play Billing library for the purchase check described above.
• Run at startup and keep awake briefly, added by Android's WorkManager so the monthly reminder survives a restart of the phone.

Children

The app is not directed at children and is intended for adults managing a household.

Your choices and deleting your data

• Settings > Export all my data saves every table to a file you choose.
• Settings > Delete all data removes every property, meter, reading, photo, tariff, bill and setting from the device and cancels the reminder. Uninstalling the app also removes everything on the device.
• Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing to request from us. To ask Google about the purchase diagnostics, use Google's own privacy tools.

Not an official document

The readings history PDF and CSV are For personal record-keeping. Not an official document. Figures such as usage, costs and gas kWh are calculations from the numbers and prices you type; your supplier's bill is the official record.

Changes

If the app's behaviour changes, for example by adding a feature that sends data, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
