Golf Scorecard & Stats ("the app") is a golf scorecard for Android. This policy explains what happens to the information you put into it. The short version: what you type stays on your phone.
What the app stores
The app stores, on your phone only:
- the courses you enter: course names, pars, stroke indexes, and the tee names, Course Ratings and Slope Ratings printed on the scorecard;
- your rounds: the players' names you type, each player's handicap index and playing handicap if you enter them, strokes per hole, and the optional stats you choose to record (putts, fairways, greens in regulation, penalty strokes, greenside bunker saves);
- your settings: your name as you want it on the card, which stats the hole card asks for, the course and tees you played last, and whether the screen stays on during a round.
Handicap estimates and statistics are worked out on your phone from those rounds. They are never sent anywhere.
What the app does not do
- No account and no sign-in. There is nothing to register for.
- No location. The app has no GPS, distance or course-map feature and does not ask for location permission.
- No ads and no analytics. The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK and no advertising identifier.
- No backend. The app makes no network request of its own. The publisher never receives your courses, rounds, names or scores.
- No contacts, camera, microphone, photos or storage permission. Files you export or import go through Android's own file picker, one file at a time, to and from a place you choose.
Google Play and in-app purchase
The app offers a one-time "Pro" upgrade sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment; the app never sees your card or payment details. The app asks Google Play whether you own Pro each time it starts and keeps only a yes/no reminder on the phone.
The Google Play Billing library that makes the purchase possible sends Google its own diagnostic logs about billing calls and connection problems (for example, whether the connection to Google Play succeeded). These diagnostic logs go to Google, not to the publisher, and are handled under Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. This is why the app's Android manifest contains the INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions: they belong to Google Play Billing, not to the app's own code.
Sharing
The app shares nothing by itself. When you tap Share on a scorecard or a course, Android's share sheet sends the image or file only to the app and person you pick.
Backups
If you have Android backup turned on, Android may include the app's courses, rounds and settings in your own Google account backup, so they come back on a new phone. The Pro reminder is left out of backups on purpose; Google Play restores Pro instead.
Your control over your data
- Export all my data: Settings → "Export all my data (JSON)" saves everything the app stores to a file you choose.
- Delete all data: Settings → "Delete all data" erases every course, round and setting from the phone at once. Uninstalling the app also removes it.
Because the publisher never receives your data, there is nothing held by the publisher to delete. Google's billing diagnostics are held by Google under Google's policy.
Children
The app is made for golfers aged 13 and over and is not directed at children.
The handicap figure
The handicap number the app shows is an estimate calculated on your phone. It is not an official Handicap Index, and the app is not affiliated with the USGA, The R&A, the World Handicap System or any golf association or club.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the web address above with a new effective date.
