EMI Tracker: Privacy Policy
Effective 16 September 2026. This policy covers the Android app "EMI Tracker: Loan Reminder", published by Digital Shijil LLC.
The short version
- Everything you type into EMI Tracker stays on your phone. Loan balances are sensitive financial information, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
- There is no account, no login, no analytics, no advertising and no crash-reporting service.
- The app never asks to read your SMS messages, never connects to your bank, and never reads your contacts, photos, files or location.
What you put into the app
You can enter loans (a name, the lender, the amount borrowed, the interest rate, the tenure, the EMI, the start date and the due day), the payments and prepayments you make, the names of people you have lent money to or borrowed from along with the amounts and notes, your own currency exchange rates, and your settings.
All of it is stored in the app's private storage on your device. We have no server, so we could not receive it even if we wanted to.
What the app does not do
- It does not read, receive or send SMS messages, and it requests no SMS permission of any kind.
- It does not link to bank accounts, card accounts or any account-aggregation service.
- It does not offer loans, refer you to lenders, or estimate or report credit scores.
- It does not give financial advice. Its figures are arithmetic on the numbers you enter; your lender's statement is the authority on what you owe.
Permissions
The app itself asks for one permission: notifications, and only when you turn on due-date reminders. If you refuse, reminders stay off and the app keeps working.
Google's own libraries inside the app add a few permissions that you can see in the app's details: BILLING, INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE come from Google Play Billing, which handles the optional Pro purchase; WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED and FOREGROUND_SERVICE come from Android's WorkManager, which runs the daily reminder check on the phone. No code we wrote opens a network connection, and your loan data is never part of any request.
Purchases
Pro and Lifetime are one-time purchases handled entirely by Google Play. Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy. The app is told only whether your Google account owns a purchase, which it uses to unlock features. We never see your payment details.
Reminders
Due-date reminders are worked out on your phone from the loans you entered, and shown as notifications on your phone. Nothing is scheduled on a server.
Backups
If Android backup is switched on in your phone's settings, Android may include the app's database and settings in your own Google account backup, so a new phone can restore your loans. That backup belongs to your Google account and is controlled from your system settings. We cannot access it. Your purchase status is not backed up; Google Play confirms it again on the new phone.
Files you choose to create
"Export all my data", the spreadsheet (CSV) export and PDF statements are written only to a location you pick in the system file dialog. A "you owe me" statement image is shared only to the app you pick in the share sheet. Once a file or image leaves the app, it is handled by wherever you sent it.
Deleting your data
Settings → "Delete all data" erases every loan, payment, person, rate and setting from the app and cancels scheduled reminders, leaving the app as it was on first install. Uninstalling the app also removes everything it stored. Purchases stay with your Google account and are restored automatically.
Children
EMI Tracker is intended for adults managing their own finances and is not directed at anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of data ever changes, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the release notes.
