Home Canning Log: Privacy Policy

Effective 26 September 2026. This policy covers the Android app Home Canning Log & Times (package com.veltislabs.canninglog), published by VELTIS LABS LLC. Questions: contact@veltislabs.com.

The short version

What the app stores, and where

Everything below is stored only in the app's private storage on your device:

The publisher never receives any of it. We cannot see, recover or delete it for you.

Photos

The app does not request camera or storage permissions. When you add a photo, Android's Photo Picker hands the app only the image you picked. The app keeps a reduced copy in its private storage. Photos are not added to your gallery and are not uploaded.

Notifications

The first time you start a processing timer, the app asks for permission to show a notification when the time is up. The notice is scheduled on the device. If you decline, the timer still works while the app is open.

Backups

If Android backup is switched on for your Google account, Android may include this app's batch log, photos and settings in your own device backup, so they can be restored to a new phone. That backup is stored by Google under your account and is governed by Google's privacy policy; the publisher has no access to it. You can turn Android backup off in your device settings.

Purchases (Google Play)

Pro is a one-time purchase sold by Google Play. Google processes your payment details and purchase history; the app never sees your card or payment details. The app asks Google Play only whether your account owns Pro.

The Google Play Billing library built into the app sends diagnostic information about the billing connection to Google. In the Play Console Data safety form this is declared as: App info and performance > Diagnostics: collected, not shared, required. This data is used by Google to operate and troubleshoot purchases; it is not used by the publisher, and it is not used for advertising. It is the only reason the app package includes Android's internet permission.

Sharing and exports

Nothing is shared unless you do it. When you export the batch log as CSV or PDF, make jar labels, or use "Export all my data", the file is created on your device and handed to the destination you choose (a file location, email, a printer or a messaging app). What happens to it after that is governed by the app or service you choose.

Deleting your data

Settings > Delete all data removes every batch, photo and setting from the device and cancels a running timer and its notice, returning the app to a fresh install. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data from the device. Deleting data does not refund a purchase; Pro stays with your Google account.

Children

The app is intended for adults who preserve food at home. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Not advice, not an official document

For personal record-keeping. Not an official document. Processing times are reproduced from the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning (2015 revision). The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the USDA or the National Center for Home Food Preservation, and it gives no advice beyond those published tables.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at https://apps.digitalshijil.com/canning-log/privacy/ with a new effective date, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
