Privacy Policy — Attendance & Fee Register

The short version

Attendance & Fee Register keeps everything on your phone. It has no account, no sign-in, no server and no analytics. Nothing you type into it is uploaded anywhere, by us or by anyone else.

This app is used by teachers, and the records it holds are about children: their names, their photographs, their attendance, and their parents' phone numbers. That is exactly why it was built to keep all of it on the one device and to ask for as little as possible.

What the app stores, and where

Everything below is stored in the app's own private storage on your phone:

• Batches — the name, subject, days, time and fee of each class you teach.
• Students — name, phone number, parent or guardian name and phone number, the date they joined, an optional note, and an optional photograph.
• Attendance — one mark per student, per class, per day.
• Fees — the charges raised for each student, the payments you record against them, the payment method you noted, and the receipt number issued.
• Your settings — your name or institute name, the contact line and the logo and signature image you chose for receipts, and whether reminders are switched on.

Android's own app-private storage is not readable by other apps on the phone.

Student photographs

When you add a photograph, the app uses the Android Photo Picker. It does not get access to your gallery — the picker hands the app only the one image you chose. That image is then copied, at a reduced size, into the app's private storage so it still appears after a restart.

Photographs are not included in the backup file the app exports, and they are not included in Android's own cloud backup or device-to-device transfer. If you restore a backup onto a new phone, students come back without their photographs. That is deliberate.

What the app does not do

• It does not create an account or ask you to sign in.
• It does not upload, sync or transmit any of your data.
• It does not contain an analytics, tracking or advertising SDK.
• It does not request access to SMS or to your contacts. It cannot read or send text messages, and it cannot open your address book.
• It does not send messages to parents. When you share a receipt you choose the app and the recipient yourself, in Android's own share sheet, every time.
• It does not ask for location, microphone, camera or broad file access.

Permissions

The app declares one permission: notifications. It is requested the first time you switch on a reminder, never at first launch, and reminders simply stay off if you decline. Notifications are generated on your phone and contain only the student name, the amount and the date.

Google Play Billing, used for the optional one-time upgrade, adds an internet permission of its own to the installed app. That connection is between your phone and Google Play, to confirm a purchase. The app itself has no server to talk to and sends nothing over it.

Purchases

The optional upgrade is a one-time purchase through Google Play. Google processes the payment; the app never sees your card, your name or your email address. The app only asks Google Play whether this Google account owns the upgrade.

Sharing and exporting

Receipts, printable registers, CSV files and the backup file are created on your phone at the moment you ask for them. The app hands the finished file to Android's share sheet or file picker, and you decide where it goes. Nothing is sent automatically.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete all data removes every batch, student, photograph, attendance mark, fee and receipt from the phone, and clears the space they occupied in the database file. Uninstalling the app also removes all of it. Neither can be undone, so export first if you want a copy.

Children's data

The app is for the teacher, not for the student. It is not directed at children, it is not designed for children to use, and no child ever interacts with it. The records it holds about children are entered by their teacher and never leave the teacher's phone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the address below and the date at the top of this page will change with it.
